WHAT IS TASTE TAKEOVER?
TASTE Takeover is a veteran-led, Latina, queer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Washington, DC Capital Region. Since 2016, we have created safe, welcoming, culturally affirming spaces where LGBTQ+ Latinx people and allies can connect, celebrate, build community, and thrive.
What began as a way to create the spaces we wanted to see has grown into a vibrant community rooted in culture, connection, visibility, and belonging. Over the years, TASTE Takeover has produced events at more than 60 venues across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, bringing people together through Latin parties, cultural celebrations, networking events, community gatherings, family-friendly programming, advocacy, and access to essential resources.
We celebrate the diversity of Latin America through music, food, dance, traditions, and shared experiences while uplifting the voices of LGBTQ+ Latinx communities. Queer Latinas are at the heart of our mission, but everyone who respects, supports, and celebrates our community is welcome.
Our signature program, Mamacita Festival, is the nation’s first veteran-led Queer Latina Music Festival, celebrating Latin culture, music, and community while creating greater visibility and opportunity for LGBTQ+ Latinx artists, entrepreneurs, organizations, and community leaders.
TASTE Takeover is more than events. It is a place where friendships are formed, relationships begin, chosen family is found, and people can show up exactly as they are.
Together, TASTE Takeover and Mamacita Festival are building a stronger, more connected future where every LGBTQ+ Latinx person can feel seen, supported, represented, and celebrated.

Mamacita Festival is an annual celebration of Latin music, food, culture, and community created for Queer Latinas and our allies. Through music, dance, and shared traditions, we create a welcoming space where people can celebrate their heritage, build meaningful connections, and feel at home, no matter where they come from.
